about
Chet & Chomsky were two rats that I used to live with. They belonged to my friend/roommate Peg.
Chomsky used to torment me. Sometimes Peg would forget to put him back in his cage at night, and when I came home from a gig he’d be waiting in my bed, forcing me to sleep on the couch. I gave up on trying to coerce him out of my room after he bit me one day. It killed. Rats have long teeth!
Chet never gave me any problems.
This song is my ode to Chet & Chomsky. I picture them singing the first part. When rats stand up on their two feet, they do this thing with their head – sort of like what Stevie Wonder does when he sings. That’s what I picture them doing when I listen to it.

Wonderfully spectral guitar songs from Rob Byrd have the subtlety and beauty of the quiet parts of post-rock songs, all tension and mood. Bandcamp New & Notable Oct 3, 2022
